Description

Sue Ross Recruitment are seeking an experienced Part time  Payroll Officer, in this role you will take ownership of all aspects of the weekly payroll process. This is a hands‑on role requiring accuracy, organisation, and a proactive approach. We’re looking for someone who brings exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the confidence to manage payroll end‑to‑end. Experience with Sage Payroll is essential, and knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts is highly desirable.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll accurately for all employees
  • Ensure compliance with tax legislation, pension requirements, and statutory deductions
  • Handle employee queries relating to pay, deductions, and benefits
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and internal policies
  • Enrol eligible employees into the Company Pension Scheme
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports to the Office Manager
  • Process new starters and leavers
  • Manage absences in line with statutory and company requirements
  • Administer company pension schemes and ensure compliance
  • Process payroll deductions and ad‑hoc payments
  • Finalise payroll including submissions, payments, payslips, P45s, and HMRC reporting

 

About You

  • Proven payroll processing experience
  • Strong organisational skills and a proactive, professional approach
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Essential: Experience using Sage Payroll
  • Desirable: Experience using Sage 50 Accounts
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
