Sue Ross Recruitment are working with an emergency services organisation in the recruitment of a Learning & Development Officer.  You will deliver effective training and support to internal staff in the areas of assessment, quality assurance, centre management activities and to deliver a range of other non-operational training input within the organisation.

We are seeking individuals with a background in learning and development and experience in working as part of a qualifications centre. Successful applicants will have assisted in the development and delivery or training frameworks and have delivered effective face to face and digital training solutions. Part of the role will be the implementation of new apprenticeships into the organisation and the monitoring and development support of apprentices within the organisation.

Key duties include:

  • Research, plan, deliver and evaluate a range of training and development courses and initiatives for internal staff and associated individuals, including skills and management training and inductions onto accredited qualifications including those relating to assessment and internal quality assurance. This will include contributing to the development of course content and learning materials taking into account general and individual learner requirements and best practice approaches.
  • Contribute to the sourcing of appropriate and effective external training, which provides best value and positive measurable outcomes for learners and the organisation.
  • Provide effective learner and course administration for a wide range of courses, accredited programmes and learning events including candidate registration, progress monitoring and liaison with providers as relevant.
  • Provide access for managers to clear and up to date monitoring data in relation to learner achievement and collating and reporting information for internal and external reports.
  • Support the qualifications Centre Manager in the delivery of externally accredited or quality assured qualifications or programmes.
  • Utilise and develop the online portfolio systems related to qualifications and programmes including learner administration, uploading content, using online monitoring tools and ensuring learner familiarity with all systems.
  • Provide effective administration in relation to Apprenticeships, linking with other areas of the organisation as required. To include the provision of accurate and timely data in relation to apprenticeship reporting requirements.
  • Undertake proactive research and Continuous Personal Development to identify innovative and best practice approaches to learning delivery, making formal recommendations to the Workforce Development Manager as required.

To enable you to carry out this role, you will have an Award in Education & Training (or equivalent) and have an appropriate learning and development related qualification.

The role will be home based initially with the likely requirement of 2/3 days in the office/on sites as and when we are able to return to wider office based working.
