Sue Ross Recruitment are working with a rapidly expanding construction company who have plans to double their Sheffield based site throughout 2022.      Due to this expansion, they are recruiting an IT Support Technician to complement their IT provision.

The main purpose of this role will be to provide computer hardware and software support for the company and to act as a first line of contact for any IT issues/queries. As part of the role you will also be involved with various infrastructure projects.  Our client is a dynamic and tech focused company and continually strives to use the latest technologies.

Role responsibilities:

  • Helping to set up new users (hardware + software) and on-board new team members from an IT perspective
  • To diagnose and resolve technical problems via the telephone, remote desktop or within the office/factory for all computer hardware, software and peripherals using, where appropriate, a range of software tools and troubleshooting techniques
  • To perform hardware repairs and upgrades
  • Reset passwords + set up accounts
  • To install, configure and upgrade software including operating systems and business applications (such as Microsoft Office) for existing and new computers
  • To log all support jobs and document their outcomes
  • To provide a professional and rapid response to all user support requests
  • To assist in the acquisition of required computer hardware, software and peripherals, and maintaining in-house stock
  • To support users in the use of company IT systems, providing assistance and training where required
  • To carry out system checks and where necessary work with external support providers to resolve issues
  • May be expected to travel to the Warrington office to perform maintenance, repairs and general IT support as required (travel expenses will be covered)

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrable skills in identifying and resolving many common computer faults, whether hardware, software or network related, using a systematic approach (across a full range of Microsoft + Google Business platforms)
  • Car driver with full and clean driving licence would be preferable
  • A good understanding of Microsoft client and server operating systems and Microsoft Office. Proven experience in operating system installation and upgrades
  • An understanding of Windows based computer networking, with a fundamental knowledge of different architectures, and protocols with the ability to configure broadband and wireless connections
  • A knowledge and understanding of the different types of computer malware
  • A good awareness of computer security and an understanding of the implications surrounding it
  • Tact and diplomacy in all interpersonal relationships with colleagues and the ability to provide a high level of customer care and satisfaction
  • Self-motivation and personal drive to complete tasks to required timescales and quality standards together with a willingness to learn new technologies
  • The ability to work in a professional and confidential manner with excellent personal and telephone manner
  • Willingness to travel to our Warrington office according needs of the business
  • Some basic software development or scripting experience would be advantageous but is not essential
