Sue Ross Recruitment are working with a specialist medical manufacturing company who are at the cutting edge of technology and pioneering in their specialist area.   They are currently recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager to be based in the Birmingham area.


The Business Development Manager is responsible for direct sales and account management activity for all customers within their designated sales territory.  The BDM will work to clearly defined objectives and agreed business plans that will ensure both the retention and growth of customers within their territory.  The BDM is responsible for the identification and acquisition of new customers through the development of robust business plans that will convert competitor business to our client’s products.  The BDM will Coordinate the workload of the Clinical Specialist to achieve UK business plans.  


  • Strong work ethic with high levels of enthusiasm to sell products/services across the company portfolio to consistently achieve or exceed the sales targets.
  • Through planned and targeted field visits be highly visible to both internal sales teams and external key external stakeholders.
  • Build up to date, detailed knowledge of local market trends and competitor systems in order to develop robust and accurate business plans.
  • Develop and maintain key clinical and non-clinical stakeholder relationships to defend existing and acquire new strategically important business.
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with focus on customer needs and the promotion of professional education programmes.
  • Demonstrates financial awareness, added value thinking and how to increase return on investment.
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of products and developments in the orthopaedic sector and shares with colleagues.
  • Uphold company values and ethics in a professional manner, complies with all company policies and procedures and acts with integrity.
  • Is an ambassador for the company in all professional interactions




  • Proven success of sales achievement within the orthopaedic sector.
  • Commercially aware with sound judgement and business acumen.
  • Energetic, confident, goal orientated and self-starting.
  • Excellent communication skills; listens, influences, inspires and motivates others to act.
  • Develops and maintains relationships by making a strong personal impression.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a creative problem solver.
  • Full UK driving license is essential.
